Stockholm Sports Gymnasium focuses on mental strength - initiates pilot with PlayWellMinds
In the fall, Stockholms Idrottgymnasium - SIG (Sports High School) will launch a pilot project with PlayWellMinds, where all first-year students will receive training in mental strength through the PlayWell7 program – seven inspiring lectures combined with an app tailored for teenagers' everyday lives.
– At SIG, we recognize the importance of shaping both strong bodies and strong minds. The pilot project with PlayWellMinds is a natural step in providing our students with tools to manage stress, set goals, and build resilience – both in sports and in life in general, says Verner Gerholm, principal at Stockholm Sports Gymnasium.
PlayWell7 is based on seven steps where students get to access research-based life tools in areas such as focus, acceptance, visualization, and recovery. The lectures are delivered by coaches from PlayWellMinds and combined with daily exercises in a digital app.
– We are incredibly pleased about the collaboration with a school that has a clear ambition to develop the whole person. Our mission is to build the next generation of mentally strong young people – and together with SIG, we are now taking an important step in the right direction, says Henrik Cronebäck, founder of PlayWellMinds.
PlayWellMinds has been around for just over a year and has delivered very good results to date. Of all the young people who have gone through the program and used the app, about 90% have experienced it 'positively' or 'very positively', and 75% reported a 'positive' or 'very positive' effect on their well-being.
